The Look of a Mother

There is a look every mother gets. And no it is not the one where your kids go, ‘oh crap, I have really pushed her too far this time.’ It’s more of a look she has. It comes with the arrival of the first baby, and in most women, tends to disappear when the youngest hits about three or four. Power Forever

Taylah came home from school the other day and I asked her what she had learned about.‘Power forever,’ was her very candid reply. Now is it just me, or does that make no sense whatsoever? I’m finding so often with the kids these days that I am looking at them and thinking ‘where did that come from?’ Even Taylah has been repenting in tears, saying ‘I...

Freedom to Fail

I won’t be winning any mother of the year awards today. Or any time soon for that matter. I sent both my older girls to school this morning looking as if the sky had fallen. And with the spate of natural disasters at the moment, that is entirely possible.Sometimes, as a parent, I am overly enthusiastic in my desire to train my children. There is just so much to learn! There are physical skills like hair brushing, self-dressing, and learning to sit still at the dinner table. There are...
