I have a confession to make.

I’m not actually the best wife ever.
Or mother for that fact.
This morning, Bailey told me that at tidy up time at preschool, the kids all yell and not the mums and dads. Which inspired an automatic note to self: less no yelling at tidy up time.

But, I digress.
Today is not about my motherhood failures; it’s about my wifing ones.

Now obviously I love Boatman. He is a wonderful dad, a great person, and dare I say it, a fantastic lover. (And I really hope my mum isn’t reading…)
Occasionally I even take the time to tell him all these wonderful things, or write them down for the whole world to see.

Other times I fail dismally.

Like the day he started his new job.

By some miracle, Boatman has managed to score, not one, but two new jobs, in two Completely different professions, but both ones he loves. One week he is Skipper extraordinaire; ferrying divers from gps location to gps location, and then feeding his face waiting patiently for them to surface.
The next week he is the professional financial adviser, talking about the stock market and insurance and other highly provocative things.

Yes. I am a little weird.
That’s not new information.

On his first day home from the boat driving job, he was clad in his new uniform.

Dark blue coveralls.

For some reason, he thought his new outfit might inspire an outfit change of my own.
He was sadly mistaken.
Rather what ensued was a discussion as to whether or not they were overalls or coveralls (as if one is sexier than the other), in which google images proved the referree.
I, of course, was right.

Boatman went to wash said coveralls, sad and dejected that his new uniform had not inspired the hoped for response.

Fast forward a few months to Sunday afternoon, and after yet another failed birthday party, we had visitors dropping off presents. We were seated outside whilst I force fed their children all the party junk I had prepared, when the man himself arrived home from work.

The conversation then went something like this.
Friend 1: Boatman’s home from work. In his overalls. (They are coveralls people!!!)
Friend 2: They’re nice aren’t they?
Me: Really?
Friend 1: Yeah I like them. They suit him.
Friend 2: He is very top gun, with his sleeves rolled back like that.
Friend 1: Yeah definitely.

Cue Hollywood music, and some fancy back lighting. A Boatman walked towards us in his dark blue coveralls, sunglasses on, his hair freshly cut, and yes, the sleeves rolled up, I saw it.

Tom Cruise eat your heart out.
Boatman’s got it going on!

It took me a little while, but I got there eventually.
Coveralls for the win!

Now speaking of Top Gun (points for the awesome segue), it’s time to announce a new top blogger of the Mo. This time I put the vote to the awesome #teamIBOT and the voting was unanimous.

It’s Becky from Becky and James.

What I love about Becky’s blog is that she is always so refreshingly honest, even when it’s probably easier not to be.
She has also been doing some awesome crafty stuff with her book of days, which just looks awesome, and is worth checking out.

Have you ever looked your respective other and had a ‘top gun’ moment?
Do Boatman’s coveralls totally have you singing ‘Highway to the danger Zone?’
Have you seen Becky’s blog? Isn’t she a total Top Gun?

    PS I think they’re overalls!

  13. Perhaps it wasn’t the coveralls that eventually sparked your interest but some competition. He he he. I’m not saying your freinds were eye-sexing your hubby but they were giving him compliments that made you see the light. I hope you had a nice time role playing Top Gun. :p

  14. Congratulations Becky!!! Welcome to Blogger of the Mo’dom! lol

How could you not notice Boatman outdone Mr Cruise?!

I swear it’s something about uniforms lol

  20. Okaaaaay- not that I’ve ever been there but I do suspect not commenting on another woman’s husband’s Top Gun factor is probably a good way to stay out of trouble. Even if you’re asking! Glad you could see it though. I find, (if I must share) nothing makes my man look more attractive as those rare occastions when we are the only two in the house. ;)

Top Gun! I always think of Ice Man for some reason. So now I have “Highway to the Danger Zone” and “Ice, Ice Baby” stuck in my head threading through each other. Hey, someone should do that! It makes a cool song. Well, in my mind anyway …
And yes, definitely a bloggy top gun :)

    Hows Boatmans ego today? :P

  36. It is a shame that Tom Cruise has gone all loooopy-lah-lah…. That has totally wrecked his Top Gun appeal… but… that is not what you are asking…

Mr Cool has a shirt and tie job and quite often wears a suit. When I see him at work at his desk with his funky work glasses, wearing his suit and being all ‘I am so the boss right now’ routine I have a ‘Top Gun’ moment.
