Hi ho, hi ho, some thankfulness I’ll show (insert whistling here.)

Today I am thankful for my sewing machine.

(This photo was taken on the iPhone at night with bad light, because that’s the only time I can actually safely play with her. She is very pretty I assure you!)

It’s only been the last couple of years that I have caught the sewing bug, and though I don’t do a lot of it, it’s nice to have something to make it a little easier. Prior to this awesome Christmas present from Boatman last year, I was confined to hand sewing, or my mothers trusty old Bernina, which is possible older than I am, and far more emotional.

Since having Betty (that’s what I call her: a name I literally just made up), I have made this quilt for Ava.

With help from my mother in law.

And this quilt that sits on our bed.

Also with help from my mother in law.

I’m also thankful for my mother in law. (Though now that I have written that, she probably won’t read this. A post on how it’s easy to seduce her son she comments on though!)

This quilt also came in handy last night, when dear little Ava refused to sleep in her own bed, and then refused to sleep in ours because her nappy had leaked and she was wet. I put the quilt over the wet spot, put her on top, and we all slept happily.

Betty is also helping me make the big girls quilts for Christmas. (Bailey has one that I made on the trusty old Bernina.)

Taylah’s is almost finished; I just need to sew the border.

Bridie’s is still in pieces, but the pieces are almost ready to be joined together to make the quilt top.

I just need to appliqué these flowers onto them.

I’m really enjoying the creativity of making these for the girls, and I know that they will love them. It makes it so much easier that my sewing machine is so beautiful, and easy to use, so that even a novice like me can use it with minimal mistakes.

Thanks Betty. I love you.

Are you a sewer? Or rather do you sew? (Not asking if you are an underground tunnel for transporting human excrement; that would be gross. And weird if you said yes.) Do you have a special friend like Betty who makes it so much easier?

What are you thankful for?
